February Monthly Sketch Project

This is for the Monthly Sketch Project. The photograph is beautiful, and really made me want to draw and paint it. But it presented a few challenges, too. The photo is quite bright with an absence of strong shadows and contrasting colors. It was tricky to get the yellow flowers to pop against the green background.

The photo and the website are here:

This is watercolor pencils in Co-Mo sketchbook.

I looked at the photo - it's easy to see how challenging it is! You've done a really nice job with it. nancy

I saw someone else had done a pencil sketch of this and when I went to look at the photo, the first thing I saw was a lack of contrast. Like you said, not many shadows. You've done a wonderful job at such a difficult task!

Very nice, I still have to get mine done. Did you post it on the group as well? I had a look there and didn't see anyones, so I wondered if maybe I'm not looking in the right place. The Mr. Linky has changed and I couldn't figure it out. You did a great job with yours.

Lovely! I am giving this one a try too and you are right, it's a difficult photo to work from but boy do I need some spring time images about now :-)

Great colours, I can see I am going to have to consider my photographic uploads to the site more carefully.
