EDM Challenge 108 - Light Bulb

OK, technically, it's not a light bulb but rather the covering over the light bulb. These chili pepper lights hang around my kitchen window. I bought them as a lark for a Mexican themed party that I held. But I really like the way they cast a soft reflection against the white, plastic blinds. On a cold winter's night, it cheers me up and speeds up the kitchen chores. I'm calling this "artistic license" on the theme.
This is the first time I've tried light and reflections and I think it turned out quite well. It's watercolor in an Aquabee sketchbook. I had to darken the contrast a bit to get the soft glow to show up, so the paper looks a bit grayer than it really is.

I love these kinds of paintings. From far away at first glance it looks so tight and detailed, but up close it's very loose. This is a beautiful piece.

I like how you have shown the light reflecting off the background.

Not cheating at all! I thought about jumping back into the EDM challenges with this one, and was going to climb up into the attic to pull the Christmas lights back down :-D So NO -- this is not cheating! Great painting, too, by the way. The different colors in the lights shape them just right, and the reflections are great!

This is a sweet little painting - I like the pink glow.

We keep our Christmas fairy lights round the fireplace all year round. They make the winter evenings so much cosier! Would never have thought to sketch them.

Great lightbulbs! You picked a fun subject and I think they definitely fit the challenge. Nice job.
